The Usual Suspects (Bryan Singer, 1995)

Even though I knew the essence because I’ve seen this movie before, it was still quite captivating. Only this time it was less about the plot, and more about how the whole thing is executed. The story is interesting enough, and the complex, elaborate scheme fixed by Kaiser Soze seems doable in principle. For that the mastermind should be not only a genious, but also a sociopath of the highest degree, with deep loathing towards people in general and propensity to manipulate them, and also kill them in various sadistic ways. This I can believe; I think such people are few in number, but they do exist. What I can’t believe is that such person would also be a genius actor, because sticking to that limping, playing the part on the very edge without a single mistake, – this undoubtedly requires genius. If only he would fail in small things here and there, it would’ve looked so much more realistic. But it is what it is.

The scheme is very interesting, and the film in general is a nice example of cinema to learn from.
