High Plains Drifter is a western about a guy, who was riding through a random town, and got hired to protect it from a gang of violent criminals about to get released from prison and come there for revenge.
Frankly, the film is not so bad. I mean, it’s nothing special at all: most of the story becomes obvious the moment the offer comes up; some of the characters are pretty odd, like the histerical woman of unclear origin; sentimental overtones are way too strong, – but it’s half-decent entertainment, and it’s not utterly stupid, nor speculative. Besides, notwithstanding general dullness of the story, it still has some suprise in it (albeit not significant enough to make a lot of difference).
All in all, I don’t care about this movie, but I don’t regret watching it either.
