Boardwalk Empire (s.04)

The quality of the implementation remains excellent. Story development is exceptionally interesting in most of its lines, including new ones: George Mueller’s career; Willie Thompson and his adventures at college; dr. Narcisse and his refined racism; the FBI founding fathers, – Brian Geraghty’s Jim is quite a powerful character, and I liked the fact that Hoover saw this undertaking as a political police at first, and only later changed his mind to organized crime fighting. At the same time, I was surprised with Margaret’s absence for the most part of the show; Eddie Kessler’s ending seemed uncalled for; it wasn’t reveiled who ordered Gillian’s punishment (although the con in general is wonderful); and Richard Harrow’s last doing and death in the finale upset me a little. The finale all in all creates an impression that the world is falling apart – and there would be nothing but ruins very soon. I’m not sure if it is a good, or a bad thing.
